Overview
As regular readers of Mirori-HP already know, Midori-san sometimes goes through phases of watching a ton of movies.
Here are some quick thoughts.

Project Hail Mary
While investigating something called the "Petrova Line," a line connecting the Sun and Venus, scientists discover the existence of "Astrophage," an organism that feeds on energy from stars and reproduces. At this rate, Earth will get colder and colder. A scientist named Grace is sent on a mission into deep space to investigate, even though he clearly said, "I don't want to!" He was tricked into going. There, he meets Rocky, an alien from a species called Eridians, and works hard to communicate with him.
- A friend recommended this movie to me.
- This was SOOOOO good?!
- Sci-fi, mystery, aliens, friendship, tears, plot twists, and ANOTHER plot twist.
- And the best part is, those plot twists are positive!
- The ending is great, too, and I felt really good after watching it.
- I also loved how the movie begins with the mystery of "Where am I?" It makes you excited to find out what's going on.
Inception
Cobb has the technology to enter dreams and create worlds inside them. Together with his beloved wife Mal, he goes deeper and deeper into layers of dreams, building their ideal world. They don't realize how differently time passes in deeper layers, and they end up spending 50 years in a dream. To return to reality with Mal, Cobb plants an "idea" in her mind: "This world isn't real." That idea, planted through a process called "inception," becomes the beginning of a tragedy.
- A famous movie directed by Christopher Nolan, of course.
- It turned out to be a tragic love story disguised as a sci-fi action movie.
- I really loved the way they truly love each other, yet their story can only end in tragedy.
- There are so many interesting characters, but in the end, it's really a story about Cobb and Mal. I loved that.
Kokuho
Kikuo, the son of a yakuza member, loses his family and is taken in by a family of kabuki actors. He is surrounded by all kinds of people: his master Hanai Hanjiro, Hanjiro's son Shunsuke, his girlfriend Harue, his second girlfriend Fujikoma, his daughter Ayano... But he hurts people, gives up a stable life, and eventually becomes the greatest kabuki actor in Japan.
- This was SO DAMN good?!
- I find it incredibly satisfying to watch someone give up everything else to master one thing.
- There's a scene where Kikuo runs away from his master's harsh training, shouting, "He's going to kill me!" But at the same time, he praises the training, saying something like, "What wonderful teaching! This is how it should be!" I loved that scene.
- I also loved the scene where his daughter Ayano, who hates Kikuo, congratulates her father.
- I can understand why people hesitate to watch it, though. Three hours is a pretty long movie.
- I loved how he lived his life, just like Midousuji-kun.
The Devil Wears Prada 2
A story about the glamorous lives of editor-in-chief Miranda, her employee Andy, and Andy's former coworker Emily.
- It was dramatic, but basically, I felt like I was just watching Hollywood actors give cool performances. Nothing really stayed with me.
Deadpool
The story of a dark hero called "Deadpool," whose real name is Wade. It follows him from being diagnosed with terminal cancer to gaining an almost immortal body through human experiments.
- Nothing in particular.
Zootopia
A Disney movie about Judy, the first rabbit to become a police officer in the animal city of Zootopia, and Nick, a fox who works as a con artist.
- Man, this movie was so fun, so cute, and so touching. It left me feeling happy and cheerful.
- Simply a great movie.
Zootopia 2
- Unfortunately, the sequel felt like... well, a sequel made because the first movie was popular.
- The characters are still great, but the story feels forced. Just watch the first Zootopia.
River
A traditional Japanese inn called "Fujiya" suddenly experiences a strange event: the same two minutes keep repeating. Everyone keeps their memories, but every two minutes, they are sent back to their original positions. That's the kind of time loop we're dealing with. How are they going to escape?
- Isn't this a masterpiece?!
- I already love stories about escaping from time loops, but this one also has charming characters, a plot that makes sense, and just the right amount of seriousness.
