Overview

I finally cleared the renowned Switch masterpiece, Tiakin. Here's a brief rundown of my thoughts.

Completion Rate at Story's End: 50%

I did quite a bit of side-tracking, which is why my completion rate is pretty high. Honestly, I was mostly charging through the main challenges, but got utterly wrecked by the Phantom Ganon mob because I didn't strengthen my armor, which brought my progress to a halt. That's when I really started to veer off the path.

Best Shot Before Clearing

While wandering the skies, a fragment of a star fell down. A miracle, perhaps?

A Few Quick Thoughts

The frustrating bits↓

  • The usage of the sages, or should I say champions, is atrocious. How many players have tried to pick up an item only to inadvertently trigger a nearby Chuchu's ability, sending the item flying?
  • The sages' design is truly abysmal. Having to approach them as they wander around at will, just to activate their abilities, is an unnecessary hassle that detracts from the gameplay experience.
  • The sages' abilities feel like a poor man's version of the champions' powers from the previous game.
  • Zelda just reviving normally was... well, as much as I found plot holes to gawk at while watching... let's just say it's a happy outcome and leave it at that.
  • Me climbing walls in the rain with my Frog Gear "Even with Frog Gear, I'm slipping?!"

The wonderful bits↓

  • As always, the level of polish is exceptional. The way NPCs' dialogue changes with the weather and as the story progresses is just amazing.
  • While I did mention there were narrative inconsistencies, the climactic scenes towards the end were so moving, they got me choked up.

My Zelda Experience to Date

Best Shot with Spoilers

I went off the beaten path so much, I even got a jab from my favorite, Ms. Purua.

The touching shot from the intense final stages.

Really, despite all my nitpicking, Princess Zelda is truly a wonderful lady who devotes her life to Hyrule.
