Overview

About a year and a half ago, I played Diablo II. I ended up pausing that game.

After that, Diablo III was on sale, so I bought it. This time, I’ve completed it.

I love this MMO-like feel. The contrast between the graphics and the font atmosphere is just so intriguing. If you're an old-time MMO player, you'll get what I mean.

Story Summary

  • Hero: This time, I chose a Monk. A monk from Ivgorod, serving the gods. Here, the gods are of the "divine in everything" type. This lady is a "Nephalem", so she's super strong.
  • Nephalem: The first humans of the human realm... Sanctuary... Incredibly powerful.
  • Sanctuary: A world created by some angels and demons amidst the "Eternal Conflict" between Heaven and Hell. It's the stage for the Diablo series.

  • Archangel of Justice, Tyrael: Warns the human realm about the brothers Belial and Azmodan attacking. A good guy.
  • Lesser Evil Belial: Rules over Caldeum. The boss of ACT 2. Gets beaten up by the Monk lady and sealed in the Black Soulstone.
  • Lesser Evil Azmodan: Chubby. The boss of ACT 3. Gets beaten up by the Monk lady and sealed in the Black Soulstone.
  • Black Soulstone: A stone that can seal many evil souls. Gets wild when many souls are sealed, but Leah keeps it in check.
  • Leah: The main heroine. A good girl. Can suppress the Black Soulstone.
  • Witch Adria: Leah's mom. Serves the Prime Evil Diablo and uses her daughter Leah as a sacrifice to resurrect Diablo using the Black Soulstone. Gets beaten up by the Monk lady.
  • Prime Evil Diablo: Himself plus the six evil souls stored in the Black Soulstone, making a total of seven evils. "The Ultimate Evil." Occupies Leah's body, which was nice since she looked cute, but turned into a monster when invading Heaven. Hey. Gets beaten up by the Monk lady.
  • The Ultimate Evil: Seven evils housed in one body. Not sure if there's a specific term for this. In the past, Tathamet became this and fought and died against the ultimate good, Anu.
  • Malthael, the leader of the Angelic Council: Seizes the Black Soulstone, seeing Diablo's absence as a chance to end the "Eternal Conflict". He aims to annihilate demons and humanity with demonic blood. Well, the logic is understandable, but he's an enemy of humanity, so he gets beaten up by the Monk lady. This also shatters the Black Soulstone, ending things happily.

The Monk Lady is Cool

  • She's a rugged, super cool lady. Just my type, the best.

  • She has a strict personality but is caring, truly like a big sister.

  • So serious it makes her naturally funny.
    • Shen: "But what's this noise? It's like we're right in the middle of a battle."
    • Lady: "Exactly."
    • Shen: "I know."
    • Shen's joking, sister.

Thoughts

  • Leah, aren't you coming back?! When she was taken over by Diablo, I thought, "Surely she'll come back, in a convenient plot twist," but she really didn't...
  • Love the graphics. But it's a bit of a shame that I almost always look at the mini-map when walking the map.
  • If you read the text carefully, you can understand the setting. It reminds me of From Software, but it's easier to understand than From's games, which made it enjoyable to read through. The above summary is also based on the in-game text.
