Overview
Three years ago, I already wrote a review of the Logicool M590 mouse.
I recommended it.
But you know, when you look at reviews online, sometimes the person who wrote it has already moved on to a different item. You think, “What the heck—I bought this because you said it was great, and now you’re not even using it anymore?” I get that feeling. Don’t worry. The Logicool M590 is the real deal.
What Is the M590, Again?
As I wrote in the last post, let’s go over the features of the M590 once more:
- Just over 3,000 yen
- Battery-powered
- Can connect to two devices via Bluetooth
- In addition to left click, right click, and middle click, it has four customizable buttons
- Silent clicks
An amazing feature, but...
- Already discontinued
- If you want to get one, you'll have to buy an overpriced used one
What’s often introduced as its successor is something that costs over 10,000 yen and “That’s not a successor anymore, it’s a completely different thing”, or something that technically has the same number of buttons but they're fixed-function, which makes it a downgrade (Looking at you, M750)—so none of them are reliable replacements.
Wait, This Is My Fourth One?
M585 (the version before the M590, not silent) → First M590 → Second → Third (this one).
The second one I bought eventually started having button issues, so I had no choice but to buy another overpriced used one.
Temporary Fixes for the Faulty Second One
When I did a temporary fix like this, someone on a Discord server said:
- Friend A: If your mouse switch is acting up, you can just replace it with some soldering.
- Me: Like I can solder anything.
- Friend B: Surprisingly, you can get a soldering kit at a 100-yen shop! That’s where I got mine.
- Me: Why the heck can everyone on this server solder?! (angry)
