Overview

Continuing from the previous article.

In the last article, I wrote, “Recently I haven’t really been progressing my producing, because I have quite a few other priorities.” Of course, that meant the Eiken Grade 1 exam.

The exam was tough, but in return… right after that, the First Star Music Festival and Step 3 arrived. I’m treating it as a reward.

First Star Music Festival

Another live event was held. Me? Well… I ended up buying tickets for both days. I’m done for—I’ve become a proper Producer.

After watching the main show, I even went on YouTube to watch the post-event talk session by “AP Kasshi.”

Step 3 Wildest Flower

I got it instantly… or rather, even though I had saved up 50,000 jewels, I somehow pulled two copies in just 20 pulls. Then I cleared Step 3 right away. So, my impressions…

  • The idea that “this is a different Saki-san from the one I wanted when scouting” was hard to understand. It felt too abstract.

  • I didn’t fully get it, but… does it mean the Producer never intended for Saki-san to be an idol who would stay active for a long time?

  • Huh? But I also remember Saki-san thinking that “she becomes stronger after losing once”…?
  • Still, the symbolism of Saki-san = “indomitable” came across clearly.

  • In Gakuen IDOLM@STER, being indomitable means continuing forward even after falling and breaking, and a coward gathering courage to take on a challenge.

  • But, you know… I feel like everyone might be thinking this, but when it comes to “the event where Saki-san’s heart breaks,” the depiction in the “First Star Commu” was just too good… I mean, it might not be fair to say this, but the Step 3 version felt a bit weaker in comparison.

Alright, I’ve said what bothered me… now for the good parts.

  • The scenario where she trains together with Sena Juo and Rinha Kayo was pretty exciting.
  • Especially since I haven’t seen many other characters’ Step 3 stories, this was actually my first time seeing Rinha Kayo’s 3D model moving so actively.
  • The new hairstyle is great!
  • Honestly, I kind of wanted to see a sporty ponytail too.
  • But… since Saki-san’s current life theme is to master being an “idol,” maybe leaning into an athletic style would go against that direction.
